    Beautiful ceremony HOWEVER, the color guard should ALWAYS have the Ensign on the viewers left while in detail. Never should a flag be to the viewers (crowd) left. I was the color guard coordinator for the MFPU Bangor and I thought I gave a better passdown than what was presented today. Every military member should know the order of colors displayed. Still nice ceremony and congrats to the new MFPU Bangor CO.

    And then, this happened.. [From Wikipedia] On January 11, 2002, Foss, then 86, was in the news when he was detained by security at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. He was scheduled to deliver an address at the National Rifle Association and speak to a class at the United States Military Academy at West Point. A search necessitated by his pacemaker precluding a metal detector screening had led to the discovery of the star-shaped Medal of Honor, along with a clearly marked dummy-bullet keychain, a second replica bullet and a small nail file (with MOH insignia). So much for how "America" treats its genuine heroes.

    • @nudist0885
      @nudist0885 5 лет назад

      As of 2018................yes. But that's most likely because the Medal Of Honor is usually only given for combat situations and outside of U.S. waters the Coast Guard doesn't really get involved in combat situations. Look up "Medal Of Honor" in wikipedia and read the whole entry. You'll see a lot of information that some people never knew.

      @@nudist0885 The Coast Guard has been in every war the US has been involved in up to and including Iraq. The Coast Guard provided Troop Transport ships to carry Army and Marine personnel to their war zone. In Douglas Munro's case, he was one of many Coast Guardsmen who were coxswains of the Higgins boats that landed troops at Normandy and every other beach that we landed on. Coast Guard ships, equipped with 5" main guns exactly like Navy Destroyers also provided gunfire support at each landing zone. I was in Vietnam for 11 months on a Coast Guard ship that provided this type of gunfire support to Army and Marine troops on the ground. Retired MCPO
